After canvassing numerous people, we came up with a list of interesting ways to spend time in Prince George - some are free, some cost money - all are fun! We invite you to add to this list.
  • Enjoy high tea in a downhome atmosphere at the Royal Empress Tea House
  • Get some great deals on books at the Friends of the Library fall book sale October 17/18 - in the Kinsmen gym.
  • Tourism Centre/Via Rail Station - the Tourism Centre has a great gift shop, and lots of friendly informed staff. If you are going on a trip - grab a book to read from the "traveling book shelf" in the lobby - take it with you and leave where ever you happen to be when you finish it. Books are free and restocked weekly.
  • In June take in the Great Chili Cookoff at Studio 2880 - hosted by the Pottery Guild - take home your hand made pottery bowl.
  • Take the kids to Northern Hardware for a 10 cent ride on the horse.
  • Sing the Messiah at St. Michael's Church with the PG Cantata Singers
  • Take a half hour hike around Ferguson Lake Nature Trail and have a picnic. (Showshoe it in the winter, too!)
  • Have a relaxing massage in one of our lovely spas!
  • If it's August - be sure to visit the PG Exhibition!!
  • Report local sightings of Sasquatch!
  • Visit the Prince George Observatory!
  • Take in a race at the PGARA Speedway
  • Get in shape at the Prince George Family "Y"
  • Watch the Prince George Spruce Kings
  • Visit Noahs Ark Adventureland!
  • Go to the Park Drive-In Theatre!
  • Take your pooch for a walk through peaceful Moore's Meadow!
  • Set a spending limit and go have a few hours of fun at the Treasure Cove Casino
  • While you're there, visit the Araina Spa and have a side by side massage with a friend!
  • Rent a new release at Blockbuster Video
  • Go to the our Famous Players Theatres
  • Pack a picnic and watch the beavers at Shane Lake at Forests for the World!
  • Visit the Huble Homestead Historic Site!
  • Rollerskate, Rollerblade, or just roll at the Prince George Roll-A-Dome on the corner of Hwy 16 and Hwy 97
  • Shop the unique boutiques of Specialty Avenue downtown (4th avenue)
  • See where Out of Alba is performing
  • Spend some time in our beautiful library
  • Visit the Forestry and Railway Museum and have a miniature train ride!
  • Hike the trails at Eskers
  • Walk the or bike the Heritage River Trail around the city
  • Take the self-guided Town Centre Historic Walk
  • Go to the downtown Farmers Market on a summer Saturday mornings
  • Visit the Native Friendship Centre for an interesting history lesson and a unique gift
  • Drive down North Nechako Road West to the end and see the natural beauty of our river
  • Hike up the Nechako Cutbanks and treat yourself to the view
  • In the summer, frolic at Salmon Valley's lovely beach
  • Have a picnic lunch on top of Connaught Hill and see a panoramic view of our city
  • Sit and meditate by the river at Wilkin's Park
  • Play laser tag at Bubba Baloo's
  • Have fun in our Skate Park on Massey Drive!
  • Play volleyball or roast weiners at beautiful West Lake
  • Visit the Two Rivers Art Gallery and be sure to go to their Gallery Shop
  • Enjoy the water slides at the Four Season's Pool, Esthers Inn or the Treasure Cove Casino Hotel
  • Splash in the Wave Pool at the Aquatic Centre
  • Have a miniature train ride or brown bag it for lunch at Fort George Park
  • Hike (or drive) up to the University and treat yourself to the view along the way!
  • Night Ski at Hart Highlands Ski Hill
  • Canoe on Bear Lake (Crooked River Park), or just go for a dip!
  • Canoe down the Nechako River to Cottonwood Island Nature Park
  • Tube down the Nechako River from Foothills Bridge to Cottonwood Island Park
  • Walk around Cottonwood Island Nature Park in any season (except flood season!)
  • Visit the most interesting Fish Hatchery on River Road
  • Run through the water spray at Fort George Park
  • Ice Skate on the oval at Exhibition Park
  • Ice Skate in front of the Civic Centre
  • Goto a WHL Cougar's game
  • 10 pin bowling at the Strike Zone
  • Take in a concert with the PG Symphony
  • Visit our completely revamped Exploration Place Museum at Fort George Park
  • Take the kids to the playground and ride the little train at Fort George Park
  • Take a day trip to Barkerville
  • Ski at nearby Tabor or Purden Ski Hill
  • Play a round of golf at one of our many golf courses
  • Visit our fabulous locally owned bookstore Books & Company (have a cuppa, too!)
  • See what's happening at Art Space (on top of Books & Company) and check out the lovely second hand clothes store up there, too
  • Take a tour of our Pacific Western Brewery
  • Take a dip in Purden Lake
  • Book a Sleigh Ride at Noah's Ark Adventureland on a fluffy, snowy day
  • Cross Country Ski out by Bear Lake
  • Eat at the Shogun Restaurant and watch the waiter juggle the salt & pepper at the end!
  • Take the kids sledding at Rainbow Park
  • Take a day trip to Fort St. James Historic Site
