In a nutshell...

This coal mining community is Canada's newest town. It was developed to provide a home and community to the employees and families who work at the two big mines. The coal mining industry is the backbone of the regional economy. Tumbler Ridge was drawn up and planned carefully before construction ever began. Rural living is combined with modern technology making it a pleasant place for residents and visitors alike. It also is a sportsman's paradise. The scenic vistas of the Rocky Mountians and the lakes and rivers of the area attract hikers and canoeists. Wildlife includes elk, deer, moose and bear while the watercourses teem with trout and arctic grayling. Also, dinosaur fossils have been found in the Wolverine River area (see below).
